Star 2-4 STARSkate

Star 2-4*

Star 2-4 is the second level of the STARSkate program, a learn-to-figure skate program unique to Canada. It is the progression into the sport of figure skating after completing all of the Star 1 test levels. STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of freeskate, skating skills, ice dance and interpretive. Participants are taught in a group, semi-private or private lesson format by an NCCP Certified Professional Coach/Coaches of their choosing who are trained specifically in teaching the mechanics and proper technique of figure skating in a progressive and sequential manner. Lessons will be arranged directly with the coach/coaches of your choosing. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada tests through the national standardized testing system. They will also have the opportunity to attend Skate Canada sanctioned competitions where they will compete to a standard earning ribbons and certificates. The Star 2-4 program consists of both on-ice and off-ice portions to ensure that skaters are being fully developed (participation in all aspects of both portions is mandatory). It is recommended that skaters participate in at least the full 3 day membership to achieve the best development.

*Star 2 – must have passed all Star 1 tests
Star 3 – must have passed all Star 2 tests
Star 4 – must have passed all Star 3 tests

Our Club has an Affiliation Fee of $200 for all StarSkate members (Star 1-5+/Competitive Skaters). We rely on Bingo volunteers as well as volunteers at other fundraising events as these events make up a large contribution to our ice fees. Over half of our ice fees are paid through our Bingo Program alone.

Our Affiliation fee will now be $200 added to your fees at the time of registration. This amount can be refunded once the following minimum adult volunteer hours are completed (as tracked at board approved initiatives). You may choose to complete either of the following:

Volunteer to work at 2 Bingos per skater registered (which is the equivalent to 8 total hours of volunteer time)

Volunteer to work 12 hours total during our Tag days and/or Thunder Bay Open and any additional board approved volunteer opportunities that may occur throughout the season.

All Bingos and Volunteer opportunities are listed on our website at or on our Facebook page. There will also be regular emails outlining opportunities. If volunteer requirements are not met, the $200 affiliation fee will not be refunded.
